Securing the Future of the Women's Missionary Society of the African Methodist Episcopal Church will take the efforts of us all! The WMS must make an indelible impression upon our communities to effect great change. Together we can Secure the Future of the WMS. Imagine the possibilities!

PROMOTE SOCIAL ACTION PROGRAMS

Create an annual WMS Day at the Capital to motivate missionaries to build relationships with legislators and advocate for human and family rights.
Implement ongoing programs to protect and restore voting rights by addressing voter education and renouncing voter suppression.
Advocate for gender equality and healthcare access by ensuring that all people can obtain services regardless of their background.

CREATE COMMUNITY SYMPOSIUMS DESIGNED TO PROVIDE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR FAMILIES AND THE COMMUNITY.

Educate the community about their civic responsibilities. The community should know where candidates running for office stand on issues affecting their lives. Education is power!
Teach members of the community how to navigate the healthcare system because too many black women are dying due to the lack of healthcare.

o Black women are three to four times more likely to die as a result of pregnancy,

o Black women account for the highest number of new HIV infections among adults, and

o Are 40% more likely to die of breast cancer.

o Black people are 100% more likely to have Alzheimer's disease.

We must encourage black women to be more informed, proactive and aggressive when it comes to their health.

Advise parents on navigating the educational system. Parents too often leave the education of their children to the school. Parents need to be empowered to ask pertinent questions in order to obtain needed resources for their child's academic success.

CONNECT THE DOTS THROUGH TECHNOLOGY. Technology has touched and changed every aspect of our lives, increasing productivity and growth in our communities. The incorporation of technology can also improve how we connect throughout the WMS and increase our sense of community.

Communicating globally with 21st century tools.
The incorporation of live streaming technology to connect our sisters in Districts 14-20.
Utilize technology to share our information and training materials, like

o The Constitutions and Bylaws and,

o The Missionary Magazine

FINALLY, EXPAND PARTNERSHIPS AND EMPOWER MEMBERS TO BUILD STRONGER COMMUNITY RELATIONSHIPS

Incorporate seminars for missionaries to gain a better working knowledge of the current WMS partners. WMS partners will be invited to share their mutual goals and ways the WMS can tap into the resources they can provide.
Explore expanding partnerships to include organizations capable of assisting the WMS in utilizing global technology as well as to access a broad range of opportunities and resources.
